About the Author

A page about authors?  Well.

Unless the story is about me, I’m constitutionally opposed to knowing anything about an author. I don’t really believe in authors. I believe in stories. And stories just are. I was nine years old before I found out that there were people who thought up and wrote down stories – that all my dearest friends and heroes and magical gardens weren’t real.

The first thing I do with a new book is put a stickie on the back cover over the author’s glamor shot. Then, for good measure, I close my eyes, reach into the back of the book and slap a couple of stickies there. You never know where a headshot or bio might be lurking.

Stop reading this and go read a story. Any story. Fall into it. Cherish the few minutes away from whatever it is that you are obligated to do all day when you’re not reading, and don’t waste any of that precious time wondering about who wrote it or what they look like. There’s no one there, anyway. Stories just are.

PS:  I do, in fact, recognize the hypocrisy of everything I’ve just told you, since the stories you will read here are all about me.  And then there is the “stories :: spoken” page.  You’re going to find out what I look like and what I sound like and in what sorts of interesting places I’ve performed, but I hope it doesn’t affect your enjoyment of the stories.  I guess you could slap a yellow stickie on your computer screen, but I can’t condone that.

I’m with you on on all of this, except you may be selling yourself short on the singing and dancing. Stories over celebrity, yes, please.

  2. I’ve nominated you for the Leibster Award because I love your blog! Learn more here: https://absolutelyunperfect.wordpress.com/2014/08/14/leibster-goodness/

  4. Hi! Thanks for following my page…your ‘author’ page sounds like how I feel. I’m no author – just someone who tells the odd (and odd) stories.

  5. Hi, Jennifer.

This is the Jennifer you spoke to in a business sense earlier today who said she’d look you up. Feel free to email me or look me up. Authors of the world unite! 😁😁
